Although I am a huge fan of TMNT 2: The Arcade Game for the NES, this one actually looked more like an arcade would look, via enhanced graphics. This was the first TMNT game to look as good as it did for any Nintendo system at the time and it didn't hurt that it came out on the SNES rather than the NES. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time, legendary TMNT game! Super Double Dragon, River City Ransom, Sonic Blastman II, and Streets of Rage II. Other games in this genre you may want to consider: I hope to play it with my children when they are older. While the game can get rather boring for a single player with no one to get hype with, the overall replay value of the game is tremendous. The game doesnt take itself too seriously as it provides similar comedic atmosphere to the Television program.

The Turtles have an impressive repertoire of mo ves and the ability to throw opponents at the screen which proves to be a useful technique during a later boss battle. Like other Konami games, there are codes to expand to help you start off on the right foot. There are a number of levels that break the monotony with hoverboards, and water crafts. While genre often suffered from redundant levels and enemies, Turtles in time keeps things interesting by putting you in different periods of world history and providing themed bosses to fit the era. For anyone who has played this in the arcade, the cartridge version is a breath of fresh air with difficulty options and an opportunity to save your quarters.

Turtles in Time is a sincerely clever title in this genre and makes for an especially fun time with 2 players. In the early 90's arcades and consoles were bursting at the seams with beat-em-up sidescroller games.
